I'm a touch more relaxed on the whole SS shock horror thing
Had a big issue about this myself ( and to a degree within CiA ) , end of the day we are playing roles not glorifying Nazisim . It's not the issue you'd think .
Thanks Kermit
Coincided with me editing my post having had a quick trawl around.
I think that gives me enough to work with =)
Andy
Wifey just re-sewed my cuff title, I'm not changing it for this event!
SS thing is only an issue if you let it be. War is wicked frankly, yet we all seem to happy to dress up as soldiers and shoot people - separate out the politics and there aint no problem, not with me anyway.
Absolutley draw the line at a disclaimer that you see on some web sites, how PC, how ghey! Should go without saying that this is just dressing up and play....

you got it andy seems OK
I too troubled over the ss thing for a while (having some distant jewish origins) but hohenstaufen was consisted mostly of foreign conscripts. and were commended for their gallantry at arnhem, also not convicted of war crimes. Having been to war museum today you see that war is awful. - no one bitches about what the russians did to the german women or the poles its just that the victor gets to write history. (I am not a revisionist btw.)
Anyway we are just big boys playing soldiers, and that is what it is playing soldiers. Its a load of fun - total escapism. And one more thing to spend our hard earned credit on! ![]()
Also remember that the german uniforms were designed by hugo boss, and so are rather fetching especially in this seasons new spring colours! Of course one could get the splinter look if one wanted it to to be a little more slimming...... try militaria-net.co.uk for reasonable insignia.

ME PAUL PHIL AND IAN are comming as 9th SS in name,
Unfortunatly PHIL and IAN will have to wear flecktarn, as this is the only kit they have that is "looks like"
ME (A Gregory) and my brother paul, are both buying Black panzer uniforms + mp 40s
were going for the standard panzer look, as moneys tight and the SS badges and extras (cuff titles) will put the cost up a bit , and only be used for 1 event, we feel a "regular" panzer outfit offers more flexibility in future events too.
we have full US ww2 gear, full flecktarn and we hope to have a "full" ww2 panzer loadout, allowing us to play as either side in future scenarios.
seeing the detail some people are going too, i hope us 4 are not letting the side down.
ian and phil are keen to play but not ww2 "heads" and we cant expect them to shell out on the "real deal" for 1 or 2 events a year
myself and paul are well up for getting the gear, but due to my wife not knowing about my uniform purchases and mp 40 purchase, its tricky to get an exact match for each game, thats why im going for a "regular" not specialist uniform for each side.
hope this is ok, cant wait to see you all there.
(mp40 is hidden in the cellar, hope its not rusting =/)

you better hope sh doesnt suddenly star reading these forums!!! I just wheel and deal using my paypal account... lol
I cant speak fr yith and them but i thought look alike was fine, this is supposed to be inclusive. Wer are supposed to be more airsofters than re-enactors! I was getting into getting the uniform any way as oak a is a very practical camo and wanted the ww2 german look to have something a bit different!

Absolutely - my friend is coming as a one-off in Flecktarn. CiA top brass have always said look-a-like is fine.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Anthony, yes that is all fine - you are not 'letting the side down', on the contrary, it is excellent that you are even considering a new loadout and taking part in the Arnhem game!
Look forward to seeing you all (and you chose the right side BTW).

I may be able to help with your 9th ss Hohenstaufen loadouts for the Arnhem event, I had a scratch around and will be able to get hold of enough stuff from some re-enactor friends. I can get hold of four complete waffen ss loadouts, including webbing sets, and helmets from their recruit depot kit. I'll post some photos tomorrow of the kit and I'll stick a couple of myself with my own gear on as well. All you'll need is a pair of boots and a suitable green or khaki army shirt, can't get any weapons sorry 'bout that.
Wunderbar- that's a very generous offer !
Had a quick count up looks like we've got ten men for the Hohenstaufen so far, if Kermit brings his MG42 looks like we've got enough for a completely authentic looking panzer grenadier section, we should be able to get some cracking looking photos here, maybe even a bit of a vid for youtube. Anymore freiwilliger for the Hohenstaufen (volunteers) out there?
HOHENSTAUFEN FOr THE WIN
Cracking look there SH !
You look like you were born to wear that uniform . With you and NB out front you should scare the allies shitless , the pair of you look anything but airsofters !

Ditto - looks awesome mate. Where did you get that stick grenade - I want one!!!! ![]()

stubblehopper - wow! that looks great. Must admit, just using camo trousers and helmet cover with the Feldgrau jacket looks really good. Think I may have a play with doing something similar. Thanks for posting the pics ![]()

Oldsweat, I think we've all been born too late, glad you all like the pics. Steiner, the grenades come from Hong Kong and cost around
Funny thing is, i've got a fair few pics of Waffen SS units under battle conditions and it's quite amazing the variety of kit you see in an individual Zug. I think the camo element alone will "standardise" things. If you have a look at a lot of modern SF units, the level of individuality in clothing and equipment is quite staggering, yet they all identifiable as being from the same unit. I think the same will apply here.
Me, i'm currently thinking of dropping my Smock (unless its so cold the weather demands that I wear an extra layer of clothing), and going with the Feldgrau jacket, Dot 44 trousers and a helmet cover. Thanks for the offer on the panzerhose though, but i'm pretty sorted on Jerry legwear lol
Now, do I make a Hohenstaufen Divisional flag or not? ![]()
